I've been home for a few weeks and that post Cali blues is starting to set in! One of the things that made my time so special was sharing moments on my California Bucket List with my new friends. Here's a recap!
See the Hollywood Sign
I literally wouldn’t stop singing “Look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign”. I could see it from one of the offices I worked in and every time it felt surreal. Thankfully I got the chance to get a picture up close!
Attend a live taping
I went to tapings of The Talk, the BET Awards, and a new game show coming to NBC (I don’t think I’m allowed to say what it is). All of them were super fun to be a part of.
Visit the Great Wall of LA
Once I got to California I learned that this doesn’t really exist. So instead here are some great views of LA.
See an indie film
My friend was a part of the Academy Gold program so she got to see some advance screenings. I went with her to see A Ghost Story. I’m not sure if this counts as an indie film, but it was the avant-garde thing I saw this summer.
Eat at In-N-Out Burger
So I don’t eat beef. Why did I want to go to In-N-Out Burger you ask? Because that’s what you do when you’re in California! I got a milkshake and fries animal style. It was good! I’m not sure if it’s as incredible as everyone says it is, though.
Go to a wine tasting
All the wine tastings I was coming across were mad expensive. I didn’t want to pay for it so I didn’t go. Here’s a picture of some Strawberry Lemonade- my official drink of California.
Walk the Walk of Fame
I actually walked on the Walk of Fame at least twice a week on my way to my internship! At first it was really exciting. Then I became used to it and it was just a cool sidewalk.
Eat from a food truck
For some reason I thought there’d be food trucks everywhere. There were not. I never ate from one. But I did go to this little chain called Lucy’s Drive In. The food was on point!
Buy something from DASH
The way my bank account is set up I couldn’t actually afford a lot of the stuff in there. I got a cute little key chain and I feel like a DASH doll which was the only goal.
Go on a bus tour
I wanted to go on one of those Celebrity bus tours but then I felt weird about it. Luckily the HBCU in LA Program set us up with a few studio lot tours. Warner Brothers was probably my favorite!
Go to The Grove
The Grove was cute! If I lived closer to it I would have gone a lot more often. It was basically an outdoor mall/market. It was a fun place to hang out at.
Visit Griffith Observatory
This was one of the first things I went to do. It was a great way to start my journey. Looking out at the incredible view made me feel excited and fulfilled.
Take polaroids everywhere
I became a little obsessed with taking polaroids! It's a fun, cute way to save a memory.
Being in California made me feel like I found where I belong! I met great people and experienced things I couldn't have anywhere else. It was truly a blessing and I can't wait to go back!
